    This full-time position is responsible for implementing Yampatika’s school-based and other environmental education programs throughout the Yampa/White/Green (YWG) Basin (Routt, Moffat and Rio Blanco Counties).     The purpose of this position is to support the Ground Water Operations Work Group by processing and maintaining data on well inventory and administration on nearly 13,000 wells in the Arkansas Basin. This position also participates in coordinating ground water operations with ground water users, augmentation association staff, Division of Parks and Wildlife staff, Bureau of Reclamation staff, conservancy district staff, various Department of Defense personnel, and Kansas State Engineer staff on the main stem of the Arkansas River and its tributaries and directly performs accounting functions pertaining to water transactions associated with replacement plans. This position has primary responsibility for the collection and analysis of power data, and other operational data for the purpose of properly administering the distribution of water.

    Provides project support and project management assistance for water resources related projects such as surface water diversion structures, pumping systems, transmission pipelines, well drilling and equipping, well rehabilitation, well replacement or abandonment, aquifer investigation studies or assessments, and well optimization studies.

    Provides certain information and mapping for the water resources master planning and project specific needs. Provides long range planning and input for systems needed to support new development. Utilizes knowledge of existing utilities infrastructure to determine connectivity and facility requirements for future development. Coordinates with the Town’s Development Services Department on water resource related matters as it intersects with new and existing development.

    Coordinates and assists with the water resources infrastructure related programs, well rehabilitation and re-equipping of inoperative wells. Evaluates condition of existing infrastructure through analysis of historical and operational data. Evaluates pump curves and selects replacement pumping equipment. Determines and implements corrective measures. Coordinates and administers service contracts. Monitors facility improvements and project schedules.

    Manages effort to accurately measure static water levels in Denver Basin Aquifer wells using M-scope or airline method. Graphs and analyzes data to monitor regional trends in water level for evaluating groundwater aquifer performance and overall system analysis. Utilizes data to make recommendations for timing of new water supply projects.

This position is full-time, benefit eligible, funded for approximately two years from the date of hire or the duration of the project, with the possibility of extension if additional funding is approved at a later date. The Water Conservation Specialist I will report to the Water Conservation Manager in the Water & Sewer Treatment and Supply Division. The ideal candidate selected for this position is a passionate water conservation professional who aids the City’s priority goal of promoting wise water use. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting irrigation and indoor water use assessments, recommending water conservation techniques and fixtures to Greeley Water customers, providing water conservation incentives that support the Water Conservation Teams’ objectives and goals, and assisting with community and customer engagement.     Position Summary
    Under general supervision, assist with the planning, development, and implementation of community, public, water conservation, with an emphasis in program administration, public involvement, and outreach. May act as Denver Water's liaison for stakeholders and customers impacted by construction projects, conservation programs or other community initiatives.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide database management, data entry, data visualization and assist with program administration for customers, stakeholders, and program partners.
    • Ensure accurate data collection and integrate programs where possible. Perform research on conservation technology, educational program effectiveness and other related topics. Test new programs, lessons, activities and assess their effectiveness.
    • Build relationships with school districts, educators (formal and non-formal), neighborhood groups, community groups, elected officials, chambers of commerce, water organizations, etc.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with city, state, federal agencies, private industry, landscape industry, school districts, educators (formal and non-formal), and contractors to provide information on and promote organizational programs, projects, and water conservation.
    • Assist in developing and providing support for an active public information program involving schools, civic and professional organizations, homeowner groups and other key customer groups.
    • Perform related work as required.

    The following disciplines fall under this job description:
    Water Conservation: Conduct technical design review of plans for large landscaped areas or commercial/multi-family buildings using large volumes of water. Work directly with industries, developers, suburban distributors, and commercial customers to implement water conservation
    operating rules, irrigation efficiency techniques and other water management best practices. Ensure accurate data collection to support monitoring and evaluation of water efficiency programs using
    statistical analysis, data visualization, and spatial analysis (ArcGIS). Serve as a liaison between staff, contractors, communities/neighborhoods participating in landscape transformation programs. Analyze and review design drawings and landscape plans to assist in Water Sales processes. Respond on behalf of Denver Water to inquiries from stakeholders. Formulate agendas and secure speakers, and assist other sections in formulating and carrying out public meetings. Develop content and educational material to engage diverse populations with water efficiency programs in an equitable way.
